The inaugural Charter Cities Conference being hosted in Johannesburg is gearing towards emerging economies and nations that are undergoing rapid urbanisation on the African continent. Its estimated that Africa's population will grow from its 1.2 billion to 4.5 billion in the next 80 years. To explain this is Executive Director of Charter Cities Institute, Dr Mark Lutter.
