Scores of Sudanese civilians were killed, tortured and arrested during anti-government protests in September last year. None of the perpetrators have been held to account, nor have these crimes been investigated. Instead, Sudan is using brutality and violence to silence perceived opponents and is blocking victims' families from pursuing justice. These are the findings of the latest report from Human Rights Watch “‘We Stood, They Opened Fire’: Killings and Arrests by Sudan’s Security Forces during the September Protests”.
