An operation to remove some foreign nationals living on the pavement along Burg and Longmarket Streets in the Cape Town CBD took place yesterday. It was carried out by a large group of city law enforcement officers. Some of the Refugees say they have nowhere to go and are calling on the UN High Commissioner on Refugees to intervene. The city has permission to remove the foreign nationals in terms of a court order.
