In this week's report, Guinea Bissau's presidential candidate Umaro Sissoco Embalo swears himself in as president despite vote row about the outcome of the December 29 election. In the DRC government forces have cleared the ADF rebel group's last stronghold in Beni, four months after the military operation begun in north Kivu province. Meanwhile the first detected two cases in Africa has highlighted the vulnerability of the continent tooutbreaks of contagious diseases. Last week the WHO pleaded to the AU to come together in addressing the scourge.
