Movement restrictions aimed to stop the spread of the coronavirus may be making violence in homes more frequent, more severe and more dangerous. Police Minister Bheki Cele says police have received more than 87 000 complaints during the first week of the 21-day national lockdown with one of those including rape, now we are still awaiting a news report on statistics but it is a cause of great concern. Now many shelters have since formed a Gender based safety plan to try and assist those stuck in abuse situations.
