World Poetry Day is celebrated on 21 March, and was declared by UNESCO in 1999, "with the aim of supporting linguistic diversity through poetic expression and increasing the opportunity for endangered languages to be heard". In the times of COVID 19, the online stream hosted on the Impepho Press Facebook page, went live under the title “In Poetry We Hope: A Virtual World Poetry Day Showcase. In this episode of the Arts Reporter, Poet, healer and organizer of this event VanGile Gantsho explains how the event was quite literally an overnight success. Poets who streamed in were Mak Manaka, Danai, Aja Monet and Lebo Mashile among many.
