The City of Cape Town have announced a three-tiered plan to assist the homeless during the Covid-19 crisis, having had to re-adjust their strategy following the closure of the controversial Strandfontein homeless camp. The City have said that the site, which came under immense scrutiny following allegations of overcrowding and human rights infringements, had in fact garnered unprecedented success in the City’s efforts to accommodate and reintegrate the homeless.
