Black For Rohingya
Loading player...
According to the UN the Rohingya in Myanmar are the world’s most persecuted ethnic minority. The eruption of violence in 2012 is symptomatic of a long and oppressive history of discrimination for which the Buddhist-majority government is to blame. The Rohingya are labeled ‘illegal immigrants’ from Bangladesh thus rendering them stateless, despite many of them having lived in the country for generations. Protect the Rohingya calls on the people of South Africa and peace and freedom loving people everywhere to join their campaign to highlight the plight of the Rohingya by wearing black in solidarity on Friday, 13 June 2014 and then to tweet pictures of yourself & your solidarity messages using the hashtag: #Black4Rohingya. Online with more on this campaign is Advocate Shabnam Mayet....
