While Brazil does have its fair share of social problems, it has also made a tremendous transformation from its dark days of the 90′s when tourists were often held at gunpoint and drug lords ruled the streets. The country elected its first female president in 2011 and through her bold leadership has made a commendable effort to stop corruption and improve the country’s quality of life for its citizens.
