Saudi Arabia has banned Muslims from outside the Kingdom from performing the annual hajj pilgrimage this year in an attempt to control the spread of the coronavirus.
The nation has seen over 100,000 cases and more than 1,000 confirmed deaths, the biggest outbreak in the Gulf region.
But the pilgrim ban makes the first time in Saudi Arabia's recent history that Muslims outside the Kingdom have been barred from performing the hajj.
But on line for comment is Executive Director at the Afro-Middle East Centre (AMEC), Naeem Jeenah.
