You probably didn’t notice it, but last week we passed a date, or rather overshot a date – Earth Overshoot Day. What is it?
A day that marks the limit of resources used to full capacity, or all the goods and services the Earth systems can supply or regenerate, as a date in the year. We live the rest of the year on credit, and it would take about 1-point- 6 Earth’s to provide the complete resources. Talk about living beyond your means! Well the inhabitants of Earth – and that means the human race and everything else – has been doing that for quite a time. And the credit comes from the future, so it is literally robbing our children of their future.
