For our children… I have written South African History Retold; A Beginner’s Guide to Women in the Liberation Struggle, so that you learn about the many fallen South African women who bravely fought for our freedom. These were ordinary women, who made extraordinary sacrifices. They lived and often died for one dream; that you and I live in a better country than they did. It is not the complete list of all the struggle heroines. Thousands of women fought daily for our liberation. Many remain poorly documented. Countless of them, only exist now in the memories of the ones that loved them. Many more remain uncounted for and lost in time. Their contribution however is no less significant, siyabonga… Although this book does not capture all the incredible women in the struggle, it is however a start
