HSBC closes Gaza linked Islamic charity bank accounts

HSBC is facing questions over why it has taken the decision to tell the The Cordoba Foundation and other Muslim organisations that their accounts are to be closed. Cordoba founder and CEO, Dr Anas Al Tikriti learned in a letter from HSBC on July 22 that the banking relationship would end because it “now falls outside of our risk appetite”. HSBC went further and issued the same letters to wife and children as well, advising them that their accounts would be closed by September 22. The decision has angered Muslim leaders and led to warnings of a possible boycott of the banking giant.
