World Food Day: NGOs call for government to uphold right to food

As the world commemorate World Food Day today, South Africans will protest to demand their right to food as enshrined in the Constitution.

Levels of hunger and malnutrition got worse under the Covid-19 lockdown, which saw about 47% of house hold running out of money to buy food.

So has the government failed to uphold the right to food?
