HyperionDev — a start-up backed by tech giants Google and Facebook and musician Black Coffee — is in the market for fresh funding, seeking to drive expansion in a growing online education platform.
The ‘edtech’ space was bubbling under nicely before Covid but now with the tide out we really saw where the gaps are with regards to online education. HyperionDev, founded by former Google employee Riaz Moola in 2012, offers specialised mentored coding courses and boot camps, both online and on-site at its Johannesburg and Cape Town campuses.
In an environment where fledgling technology firms find it hard to raise capital, Moola and his team are attracting interest.
Moola chats to Michael Avery from London about the phenomenal growth of edtech and why he believes he can take this South African startup to the world.
