The Dalai Lama’s visit to South Africa for the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates is in jeopardy amid news reports that he has been refused a visa by the SA government. His representative in South Africa is quoted as saying that a government official "conveyed by phone they will not be able to grant the visa because it would disturb relations between China and South Africa. Meanwhile, in a statement today, DIRCO said the SA High Commission in India has received a visa application from The Dalai Lama and the application is going through due process. Spokesperson Clayson Monyela tweeted that there was “no denial.”
