VUT FM 96.9 is a Vaal University of Technology-owned and ICASA-licensed community radio station serving the VUT community and the broader Vaal region. We connect with a predominantly youth and young adult audience aged 16–32, including students, graduates, high-school learners and young professionals. Our content is designed to inform, educate, entertain and give a voice to local communities.
We publish locally relevant news, current affairs, educational and career content, community affairs, health and public-interest information, women’s and youth-focused programmes, lifestyle and cultural content, interviews, discussions, phone-ins, music and entertainment. Our programming is multilingual, using English, Afrikaans, Sesotho and isiZulu, and reflects the diverse cultural character of the Vaal. We also promote South African music, local stories, community participation, reading and lifelong learning, while providing a platform for emerging talent, students and community contributors.
