Annual fees war in the medical fraternity

Mpho Mashita and DJ Complexion had a conversation with the Health Professional Council of South Africa with the CEO of the HPCSA, Dr. Kwinda about at how the HPCSA decided to handle their 2021 annual registration renewal fees.

The HPCSA is the professional body for health professionals and they have taken a decision to not increase the annual fees for all healthcare professionals except medical doctors and dentist. They decided to increase the annual fee by 15.3%.

The National Healthcare Professionals Association (NHCPA) refuses to accept the increment and they are calling for the HPCSA board to re-evaluate their decision, and seriously re-consider increasing these fees as this would mean that doctors would have to increase their consultation fees and other doctors are already considering leaving the country.

Catch up on this conversation and be in the know.
