BASA seeks empirical data supporting NCCC’s decision to extend fourth alcohol ban

The Beer Association of South Africa (Basa) is not taking the two week extension of South Africa’s fourth alcohol ban lying down. The association led by Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Patricia Pillay has announced they are submitting an urgent Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) application to the National Covid-19 Command Council (NCCC) seeking access to the empirical data and scientific evidence that the council used that links alcohol consumption with increased hospital admissions.
