Minerals and resources minister Gwede Mantashe has urged people to protect their own infrastructure even as taxi drivers guarding Vosloorus Mall on Gauteng's East Rand opened fire with live ammunition on looters.

During a visit to the embattled Vosloorus Mall, Mantashe urged people to stop destroying their own infrastructure.

"Protect it, it's yours," he told TimesLIVE.
