The SA Human Rights Commission heard evidence from community leaders from Soweto and Alexandra as they continued their hearings into the unrest and looting in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal in July 2021. Soweto community leader Themba Makhubela addressed several issues relating to the unrest including the police being incapable of dealing with the unrest and protecting citizens.
