Joburg’s collapsing water system a ‘R23bn catastrophe’ — water expert

There seems to be no end in sight for Gauteng's water woes as the province's water system continues to take strain. SA Water Chamber CEO Benoit Le Roy says the system collapse and continued water crisis is due to leaking municipal infrastructure. The crisis is worsened by the load-shedding and high temperatures that come with climate change. Among some of the solutions to the crisis is the diversion of funds into the water distribution system. However, Le Roy notes the fixing of the infrastructure could take years.
