Recently recruited police officials will start combating crime over the festival season, says Gen Fannie Masemola.
The police commissioner said his department received 523,666 applications for 10,000 posts.
He outlined his department's focus areas for the festive season. They include gender-based violence (GBV) and femicide, intensifying efforts to combat aggravated robberies, enhancing border security and enforcing legislation, bylaws and road safety.
