Ramaphosa heckled as ANC conference gets underway

ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa found himself struggling to speak above supporters of former president Jacob Zuma as the party's elective conference finally got underway.

The start of the conference was delayed by several hours as delegates tried to register. Many groups from out of town only arrived in Johannesburg on Friday morning.

As proceedings got underway around 16:30, Ramaphosa took to the stage and Zuma walked into the hall with a large contingent from the KwaZulu-Natal region.

The KZN group continued to sing as Ramaphosa began speaking, trying to drown out his words.

At one point, a group shouted "Load shedding! Step aside!" while others chanted "Change!"
