Legends Night with Eugene Zwane

When you have a nickname like Nyakanyaka, you are bound to cause trouble
for whoever dares to battle you.
Now South African football was blessed with outrageous talent in the 90s, and
one Eugene Zwane was part of that illustrious class of players.
He had the most educated left foot and came across as a reluctant football
hero. The Orlando Pirates generation of Tebogo Moloi, Botsotso Makhanya,
Aubrey Lekoane, Dan Malesela and Nick “Bazooka” Seshweni was star-studded
enough in those days. Add Zwane to the mix, mesmerising supporters of the
Buccaneers and their opponents alike, it was indeed a treat to witness them in
the field of play all at once.
Like many stars of his generation, this legend cut his teeth at Jomo Cosmos
before earning a place in the pantheon of greats at the Sea Robbers.
Despite having a plethora of fans, he went on about his game with so much
poise quietness and humility, believing those known as football royalty
deserved more publicity than him and tonight he will tell us why, because here
we aren't modest about honoring and celebrating our legends. We give them
their flowers whilst still alive.
We might even throw in a question or two about the other Zwane, you know
him mos, the one who's currently a head coach of a certain DStv Premiership
club...
Eugene Zwane is here...
