I tell you what, having conversations with the NBA organization always, always leaves me empowered and knowledge-fuelled. And it's not even because basketball is one of my favourite sports, but because I get to learn deeper about this organization that is by far one of the best run sporting associations in the world.
So much goes into making the NBA the NBA. And what's been thrilling more in recent years is seeing just how they've invested immensely in basketball on the African continent, on and off the court.
I'm going to have an in depth conversation with Senior Vice President and NBA Africa Head of Business Operations George Land and I'm confident you too will lick up some wise nuggets.
George has been leading NBA’s business development and operations efforts on the continent since July 2019.
He has more than 25 years of international NBA experience having held multiple leadership positions in NBA offices globally.
In his previous role as Senior Vice President of Content and Marketing for NBA China, Land was responsible for all of the league’s content and marketing efforts in Greater China. Additionally, he was in charge of the execution of all NBA events, including the annual China Games, and the basketball development of China’s elite players through NBA Academies.
