Arguments, misunderstandings and provocation remain the main causes of murders in South Africa. Police minister Bheki Cele released the crime statistics for the last quarter of the 2023/24 financial year on Friday. Cele said 7,710 murders were reported between October and December. More than 1,100 were because of arguments, misunderstandings or provocation.
