#FreshSqueeze | Matric results have improved, but why the drop in Physics

The Matric class of 2024 has made history after South Africa’s national pass rate for the 2024 NSC results increased from 82.9% in 2023 to 87.3%. Department of Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube says this is the highest matric pass rate in the history of the country, however, a drop in the overall performance for the Physics subject has been noted. Mpho Mashita and Complexion talk to Dr Brian Masara, an Executive Officer at the South African Institute of Physics about what could be behind this drop and what interventions can come into play.
