The Blitzboks finished as the runners-up of the Vancouver 7s in Canada after losing to Argentina in the final.
In the semi-finals, the Blitzboks narrowly beat Fiji 12-10 courtesy of a last minute converted Donovan Don try.
The Argentines beat the Blitzboks 19-12 in the final with Luciano Gonzalez scoring a brace of tries, while Quewin Nortje and Siviwe Soyizwapi dotted down for the men in green-and-gold.
The coach, Philip Snyman, said the Argentines deserved to win the title in Canada.
