Shaping the heart of those who live in our homes is not just one thing, because a home life is not just one thing. It is many things. But fundamentally, the home is a place of teaching, of discipling. This love of God is to be communicated, taught, explained, demonstrated. God wants the idea that He alone is God and must be loved ultimately to be something that is taught, in various ways, in various places, in various formats. The truths of verses 4-5 must be communicated, and communicated often. From verses 6 through 9, we see three actions that God-loving parents take if they wish to see love for God grown in their homes.
