Back "Our" Buddies, and Help the Campos Family with Their Growing Medical Bills

919 FAMILY! Please read this important call for assistance from Brynmor Campos. We had a short chat on the show about why the Campos family is reaching out for your helping hand.
"Hello — my name is Brynmor Campos, and I’m writing on behalf of my father, Carlos Campos: husband, grandfather, mentor, and the quiet pillar who has carried our family for as long as I can remember.
Over the past few years, life has tested Dad in every way imaginable:
2017: Heart attack & valve replacement while managing lifelong, brittle diabetes.
2021: Eight months on a ventilator during COVID-19, followed by two more months in rehab learning to walk again, we got him back just in time for Christmas this year! Although the recovery was long and hard, going from hospital bed to wheelchair to basic mobility.
Seizure-induced paralysis whilst on the ventilator, down his left side; he now “waddles” across the room with the stubborn determination only a grandfather can muster.
2025: Permanent oxygen dependence after a recent, still-unresolved oxygen-blood disorder that keeps him tethered to a generator and confined indoors.
Mom and Dad live with my wife, our two young kids, and me. Their pensions are long gone, spent on keeping Dad alive, while mounting medical bills have pushed our own family budget beyond breaking point. We’ve cancelled holidays, postponed birthday treats, and drained every spare rand, yet the invoices keep arriving.
Why We’re Asking for Help?
Anyone who knows Dad knows his spirit: uncomplaining, playful, and, against all odds, still a gamer. Long before esports were cool, he introduced me to pixelated quests and taught me that teamwork beats any boss. Gaming is now one of the few activities he can still enjoy, a small island of normality in a sea of hospital visits.
Your donation, no matter the size, will help us:
Settle critical debt so monthly interest stops snowballing.
Upgrade Dad’s ageing gaming setup (think wheelchair-accessible desk, modern console/PC, large-print peripherals) so he can play, laugh, and stay connected to his grandchildren.
Bridge everyday living expenses while we stabilise and rebuild a safety net for Mom and Dad.
Asking strangers for help is painfully hard, but I’ve learned that pride cannot buy oxygen tubes or pay clinic bills. If you’re able to contribute, we will stretch every cent to give Dad comfort, dignity, and a chance to keep inspiring the grandkids who adore him.
If you can’t donate right now, please consider sharing this page. Visibility alone is a priceless gift.
From the depths of our hearts, thank you for reading, for caring, and for giving our hero another level to play.
With gratitude,
Brynmor, Miranda, Carlos, and the whole Campos family"
