The legendary Free State ultramarathon runner Louis Massyn will be chasing the record books on Sunday during the 98th Comrades Marathon.
This year’s race will be a down-run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban once again — but for Massyn, it holds extra significance.
The 75-year-old, who now lives in George, will be aiming for his 50th medal at the iconic ultramarathon.
Having run his first Comrades in 1973, he’s set to become the first person to compete in the race 50 times.
Massyn told OFM Sport he’s ready and well-prepared for the 89.98km challenge.
