The Proteas opened their T20 International Tri-Series campaign with a five-wicket win over Zimbabwe in Harare.
Zimbabwe batted first and posted 141/6 in their allotted 20 overs, with captain Sikandar Raza top-scoring with 54.
George Linde was the pick of the South African bowlers, taking 3/10 in his three overs.
In reply, South Africa chased down the target with 25 balls to spare. Debutant Rubin Hermann top-scored with 45 off 37 deliveries, while Dewald Brevis smashed 41 off just 17.
North West Dragons batter Hermann said it was important not to panic when the pressure was on.
