Sibongile Mofokeng, together with Ps. Wesley Moodley, discusses the Centre of Excellence initiative assisting students with NSFAS applications from 4 to 9 November 2025. Ps. Wesley explains that NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme) provides financial aid for eligible South African students attending public universities or TVET colleges. Eligibility includes South African citizenship, a combined household income not exceeding R350,000 per year, or up to R600,000 for persons with disabilities. Applicants need documents such as their ID or birth certificate, parents’ or guardians' IDs and proof of income, and specific forms for disabilities or vulnerable children. The Centre of Excellence focuses on helping those without resources, including those applying for accommodation at the University of Sol Plaatjie, by bringing NSFAS access closer to the people and guiding them through the application process.
