: The Minor Prophets
In this Technical Thursday episode of Let’s Talk with Rocky Stevenson Pastor of Benoni Bible Church, we step back to gain a big-picture overview of the Minor Prophets—twelve divinely appointed voices speaking with one united message from a holy God. Often misunderstood and frequently overlooked, these books span Israel’s history from roughly 760 to 430 BC, addressing God’s people before the exile, through looming judgment, and into the difficult work of restoration after the return from Babylon. This session explains why these prophets are called “minor,” identifies each book, and places them accurately within their historical context. More importantly, it traces the central theological themes that bind them together: covenant faithfulness, the holiness of God, the seriousness of sin, the coming Day of Yahweh, and the persistent call to repentance. Yet alongside judgment, the Minor Prophets consistently hold out hope—pointing forward to God’s mercy, restoration, and ultimately the coming Messiah. This overview sets the stage for studying each book with clarity, reverence, and confidence in God’s unchanging purposes.
