Dr Wonderful Thabiso Khumalo
Is a South African medical doctor and emerging global health researcher
whose work sits at the intersection of medicine, public health, and social
impact. He graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2024
and is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Oxford, specialising in
musculoskeletal sciences.
His research focuses on gunshot-related orthopaedic injuries, particularly
how these life-altering injuries affect patients from the moment they arrive
at hospital through to long-term recovery. As part of the NIHR Global Injury
Group, he works within a multinational network across South Africa,
Tanzania, and Malawi, aiming to improve trauma care and patient
outcomes in resource-limited settings.
