: 1 Corinthians 12 Spiritual Gifts and Church Membership in Biblical Service
Every believer in Christ has been gifted by the Holy Spirit for the strengthening of the local church. In this episode of Theology Tuesday with Rocky Stevenson Pastor of Benoni Bible Church, we explore the biblical doctrine of spiritual gifts and the role of every church member in the body of Christ through 1 Corinthians | 12 and Romans | 12:3–8.
This session examines how the local church is not meant to function as a spectator gathering, but as a living body where every member actively participates in mutual edification, service, encouragement, and discipleship. We consider the diversity of spiritual gifts, the necessity of humility in ministry, and why faithful church membership is essential to healthy biblical ecclesiology.
We also reflect on the dangers of consumer Christianity, celebrity culture in the church, and neglecting ordinary yet vital acts of service within the body of Christ. From teaching and leadership to mercy, generosity, hospitality, and encouragement, every gift given by the Spirit serves the common good and glorifies Christ.
Join us as we consider what it means to move from passive attendance to active participation in the local church and how God uses ordinary believers to strengthen His people.
