𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗮.
Africa Online Namibia and Radio Electronic have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to jointly evaluate how OneWeb’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology could strengthen broadband connectivity across Namibia, particularly in rural, remote and geographically challenging areas where traditional infrastructure remains limited.
The collaboration will assess the technical, commercial and operational viability of satellite-enabled connectivity solutions that complement Namibia’s existing telecommunications infrastructure, with potential applications across agriculture, mining, tourism, education, healthcare, logistics and government services.
Over the coming months, both organisations will undertake technical studies, commercial evaluations and market assessments to identify potential deployment opportunities and determine where satellite-enabled services can deliver the greatest value.
The Letter of Intent marks an important strategic milestone in exploring innovative connectivity solutions that can support Namibia’s digital economy, strengthen national resilience and improve access to modern communications infrastructure.
