: “Guarding the Heart”
On this Let’s Talk Pastor Rocky Stevenson of Benoni Bible Church is joined with Bill Jack from Worldview Academy in the USA, and they discuss and explore the profound impact of films and media on human worldview, arguing that visual media functions as a powerful teaching tool that shapes perception more effectively than the written word. It critiques the tendency of Christians to rely on surface-level content ratings rather than analysing the underlying philosophical biases, such as Eastern mysticism or secularism, embedded in popular culture. By referencing Psalm 1, the conversation emphasises the need for believers to meditate on God's Word to develop the discernment necessary to filter cultural influences. The intent is to encourage parents and Christians to actively engage with culture, using media as a conversation starter while guarding their hearts and minds against subconsciously absorbing counter-biblical values.
