'Booysen case will affect morale in SAPS'

A researcher at the Institute for Security Studies says charges being once again re-instated against former KwaZulu-Natal Hawks head Johan Booysen will affect work morale in the Police Service. Booysen is due in the Durban High Court this morning alongside 27 members of the now disbanded Cato Manor Serious and Violent Crimes Unit which he headed. The case was dismissed in 2014 after the same court found the decision by deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions, Nomgcobo Jiba to prosecute was unlawful. Johan Burger says some of these police officers have no reason to continue working.
