50 years ago, an enthusiastic and hugely talented young ballet dancer sailed in to Cape Town on the mail ship at the invitation of David Poole who had seen him dance in London. His name was KEITH MACKINTOSH and he fell in love with Cape Town and stayed on ever since, becoming one of the most famous dancers in Cape Town Ballet and one of the most influential teachers. Soon his skills as an organizer and fund raiser were recognized as well and his School’s Programme took ballet to over 20,000 children while his Audience Development Programme brought new youngsters to the theatre as did his popular Open days. As he moves to another phase of his exciting life, Keith Mackintosh came into the People of Note studio to talk about his career.
