R1-million made through Women in Maize programme

Bloemfontein - The Department of Small Business Development has helped thirteen female owned cooperatives in making over R1-million through its Women in Maize programme. The Free State and North West are the two biggest maize producing provinces in the country.

Speaking at the International Cooperatives Day in Bloemfontein yesterday, President Jacob Zuma explained the cooperatives have a combined 150 hectares of land and produced over 18 tons of maize.
