Free State police have launched a manhunt for five men in connection with an armed robbery at a retail store in the busy Bloemfontein city centre. Police spokesperson, Chaka Marope, says the five men walked into the retail store located in Central Park just as it was about to be closed for business yesterday at about 17:00 . According to him the men, who did not wear balaclavas entered the store which mostly sells clothing immediately after the last customer left the store. They held two cashiers and three other employees at gunpoint and instructed an employee responsible for the safe, to open it. The employee was however unable to open the safe because of a “security delay mechanism”. Marope says the suspects proceeded to empty the cash registers and thereafter made way with an undisclosed amount of money.

The name of the retail store is known to OFM News and it is being withheld until management provides comment. No arrests have been made yet. A case of business robbery are being investigated. Marope requests that anyone with information should contact Park Road Police Station.
