Sir Nicholas Stadlen, a retired British High Court judge, who set a record as a barrister for making the longest speech in court, lasting 119 days! Since then, he’s made a foray into the film world and his documentary ‘Life is Wonderful – Mandela’s Unsung Heroes’ is showing at the Encounters International Documentary Festival in Cape Town (and Johannesburg). At a time of immense disillusionment with patronage and corruption in South Africa, Nick - as he prefers to be known - believes his film is a timely reminder of the calibre of the people who fought for democracy alongside Nelson Mandela.
