Bloemfontein - The launch of the National Child Protection Week campaign will be ending at Ladybrand in the Free State tomorrow. One in every five children in South Africa fall victim to physical, sexual, or emotional abuse before their 18th birthday. National child protection week kicked off from the 27th of May until the 3rd of June, to raise awareness for the rights of children. The Minister of Social Development, Susan Shabangu lead the launch of the 2018 Child Protection Week in Pretoria, by the theme ‘Let us all protect children moving South Africa forward’. According to The Head of Office Legal Aid in Bloemfontein, Ntate Tlou, this year the focus was on child labour and exploitation. The aim of child protection is to ensure safety, well-being, care and protection of children. This marks the 21st anniversary of the commemoration of Child Protection Week. - Josca Human/OFM News
