DA fails to oust Olly Mlamleli

The Democratic Alliance in the Mangaung Metro Council, which includes Bloemfontein in the Free State, failed in its bid to oust the besieged Mayor, Olly Mlamleli, through a motion of no-confidence on Tuesday. This, as the ANC once again used it's majority to outvote opposition parties and saw a total of 34 council members voting for the motion, 54 against while 2 abstained. DA councillor, Mokgadi Kganakga, who tabled the motion against Mlamleli, says the voting was not democratic and further accused the mayor of threatening council members.
