The Free State government has spent millions in their efforts to fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Provincial Finance Minister Gadija Brown says the Free State already spent R45 million on essential good and services. She says the total amount of commitments however amounts to R90m. Her department was making a presentation – during a virtual meeting – reporting on the spending of provincial government to members of the Portfolio Committee of Public Accounts in the Free State Legislature. Brown says she is confident that the budget of R225m for the first stage – which is the first quarter of the 2020/2021 financial year would be enough to cover expenses.
