What it means when a company unbundles its shareholding in a business?

Remember in April PSG Group confirmed that its board “is in the process of investigating, and is seriously considering, the potential unbundling of some or all of its shareholding in Capitec Bank Holdings”. This followed a week of speculation following its initial unspecific cautionary announcement published following its results announcement last week. In some quarters, this was greeted as confirmation of the “worst-kept secret” on the JSE.
