At AgriSA's Green Horizons conference in Cape Town, Agbiz chief economist, Wandile Sihlobo, led a panel discussion on investability of the food economy. "This panel, which was about investments in South Africa's agriculture, said stakeholders are optimistic about the business conditions in South Africa's agriculture. We had already seen that through the active IDC Agribusiness Confidence Index, which shows that there's optimism. But what the bank says is that when they interact with their clients, they do see that optimism. That optimism is important because it means that there is demand for capital. People are expanding both in primary as well as on a value chain side of agriculture.
