Jou stiltetyd (3)
Toe alles in die Psalmdigter se lewe uitmekaar begin val het, het hy gebid: ‘…Vernuwe my lewe volgens u woord.’ Dis wat jou stiltetyd met God doen. Hoekom het ons dus nie ‘n gereelde stiltetyd met God nie? Twee redes: 1) Ons dink ons stiltetyd moet ‘n lang tyd neem. Begin klein. Bespreek vyf minute om jou Bybel oop te maak en oor ‘n kort gedeelte van die Skrif te mediteer. Gesels met God daaroor. Vertel vir Hom jou behoeftes en vra die Heilige Gees om jou deur die hele dag te lei. Goeie Nuus! Jy het so pas ‘n stiltetyd ervaar! Herhaal dit môre. Soos jou geestelike eetlus groter word, sal jy agterkom dat jy meer tyd daarvoor eenkant sit – tien minute, dan twintig en dan al hoe langer. 2) Ons dink ons stiltetyd moet vry van alle geraas wees! In plaas daarvan om die gewoel en rumoer te vermy, wil Jesus daar met jou in verbinding tree. Begin kreatiewe maniere kry om die hele dag lank in verbinding met die Here te tree. Luister na lofsange terwyl jy die huis skoonmaak en sing saam. Bid in die Gees. Dink aan verskillende verse in die Skrif. ‘Pak alles gemotiveerd aan. Werk soos vir die Here…’ (Kolossense 3:23 NLV). Luister na die Bybel terwyl jy bestuur – daar is uitstekende toeps beskikbaar. Bid terwyl jy oefen – ontwikkel jou geestelike spiere! Neem God uit vir ‘n koffie – doen jou Bybelstudie by ‘n koffiewinkel. Gaan stap saam met Jesus – bid vir ander mense en dank God vir die natuur se skoonheid. Verwelkom Hom in jou roetine en die alledaagse sal in heilige oomblikke verander. Gee die Heilige Gees toestemming om jou te onderbreek en doen dan wat Hy sê. Anders gestel – doen die lewe saam met Jesus.
